Welcome!

We are so glad to have you with us! We can’t wait to meet you.

And we have written this blog with you in mind.  We imagine that you must have a lot of questions for us– about teaching in general, teaching at QC, and teaching in *these uncertain times*– and we want to answer as many as we can here. The questions that remain will be our first subject for our orientation on May 15.

We’re trying to streamline our orientation as much as we can through the process of putting it online. We know you’re probably juggling a lot of unanticipated duties and stresses right now, so we don’t want to give you a whole pile of preparatory work to do. At the same time, we want to give you everything you really need to prepare to teach with us in the fall. We see that as a tricky balance, and we’re trying to strike it.

So! This is what we need from you:

  • Your paperwork, which we need in an extra-timely way for reasons we’ll explain: Due Monday, April 27
  • Your posts on the subsequent pages of this blog: Due Monday, May 11

The pages that follow go in order, so you can proceed through them from left to right and top to bottom. We hope that you will be frank and forthcoming about all the questions that come to your mind! Don’t feel that you need to write in a formal way, as you are among colleagues here. We are eager to get to know you.

Onward, let’s go.
